About

Polyurethane is a class of synthetic resinous, fibrous, or elastomeric compounds belonging to a family of organic polymers synthesised by the reaction between diisocyanates and bifunctional groups such as glycols.
It is a plastic material with versatile applications. It is tough but not brittle and can be tailored to be rigid or flexible. It is best known for the production of flexible foam used in upholstery and rigid foam used as a light weight structural material.

Properties

Potting and encapsulation
Bonding
Sealing

One component system
Polyurethane reacts with atmospheric moisture to cure into a tough urethane polymer.

Two component system
Polyurethane cures at both low and high temperatures with base catalyst. Isocyanates react with hydroxyl groups to form urethane polymer network.
